ASM passes away
ITANAGAR, May 19: Anchal Samity Member (ASM) of Kabu, Aalo, Kigam Loya died on May 16 at her residence at Kabu village.
She left behind her husband, three sons, two daughters and many grand children.
Many relatives and well wishers from the district headquarters and outside queued to pay last respect to late Loya yesterday at Kabu village.
She was a lady with leadership quality and before being elected as ASM she had also held many posts in different fields including president of Aalo Women Marketers Welfare Association.

Cleanliness drive
ITANAGAR, May 19: The members of All Arunachal Public Bus Welfare Association (AAPBWA) cleaned the garbage and waste materials on the road between Ganga Akash Deep point to Shiva Mandir today.
During the social service, Traffic S P Apang Tamuk and traffic inspector M Takung lauded the members including bus staff for taking up such noble work.
Meanwhile, AAPBWA appealed to the Capital district administration to shift the small shops and electrical poles from near the bus stoppages to some other safer places for safety of commuters. It further appealed to the traffic cell to deploy two more traffic personnel at Ganga bus stand.
TB advocacy prog at Seram village
ITANAGAR, May 19: Abu NGO today conducted a TB advocacy programme for community leaders at Seram village.
Speaking on the occasion, Khansing Chamroy, coordinator of Abu NGO, stressed on community leaders’ active participation to prevent TB. He advised the patients to complete the duration of treatment saying that many patients do not complete the lengthy regimen. A TB patients has to take medicines for a minimum period of six months to kill the germ.
TB is mainly a disease of the poor. Malnutrition, poor living condition are the main reasons for the spread of the disease, he said.
The community leaders have collectively decided to work with Abu NGO for complete eradication of TB from the community. Besides the community leaders, Gaon Bura Rikyon Kenning, public leader Kalom Lego also spoke in the programme.
Plantation drive at Aalo
ITANAGAR, May 19: Plantation of avenue trees within Aalo township area was carried out by the Kebo Gambo Welfare Society led by Dr. Takki Gammi and Ayanam Society lead by Dongam Ori Ngomdir with technical support from the Forests and Environment department on May 16 and 17.
About 500 seedlings of Ashok (Saraca indica), Bokul (Mimusop elengii), Gulmohar (Delonix regia) were planted in the roadside near Higher Secondary School, Medical colony, Industry colony, District court area and Gumin nagar area.

Arunachal seeks EU support for flow of WB, ADB funds

ITANAGAR, May 19: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki sought the EU support to facilitate flow of fund from World Bank (WB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) which are already funding all NE states except Arunachal.
Enlisting the huge potentials of Arunachal Pradesh to the visiting ambassadors from eight European countries here today, Tuki said that though the state had submitted proposals for development fund as desired by the Union Govt, WB and ADB but those proposals were rejected due to objection raised by Chinese government. Arunachal with an annual budget of around Rs 3,000 crore has to fully depend on Centre for funding from external agencies, the Chief Minister said.
Highly impressed by the first hand experience of the rich cultural mosaic of Arunachal and its inspiring natural beauty, Poland Ambassador Pitor Klodkowski opined that this will lay a strong foundation between Arunachal Pradesh and 34 nations including 27 European nations.

The Union also demanded a clarification from the Parliamentary Secretary for declaring the bandh call as illegal.

Successful implementation of NWDPRA project at Subang village
ITANAGAR, May 19: The department of agriculture, Tirap successfully implemented a
National Watershed Development Project for Rain Fed Area (NWDPRA) at Subang village
under Deomali sub-
Different activities such as tea plantation (7 ha), terrace cutting, nursery development, plantation of fruit plants, bamboo plantation, medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation, fish culture besides construction of water harvesting structure, trenching, loose boulder structure and erection of fencing were carried out under this project. A total of 400 villagers of Old and New Subang village benefited from these activities.
A seven members monitoring team comprising representative from agriculture and allied departments visited the project site on May 14 and assessed various undergoing project activities.
The team also interacted with village level water shed management committee members and the local panchayat leaders and enquired about various constraints in implementing the project.
